<HR style="COLOR: #666666" SIZE=1> <!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->I purchased the upfitter switch assy. and finally received the wiring harness today. Where does the relay panel mount? I'm sure it is under the glove box somewhere, but where exactly and in which orientation. Anyone with a 2005 model equipped with the upfitter switches please respond with a picture of the relay box.
ford only states passenger side mounted so i would think possibly under the right side kick panel or near by.q117 is the ford sheet on this ford web site good luck https://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas/topics/qvmp.html
Thanks captchas. I stopped by the dealer this afternoon and looked at a truck so equipped from the factory. The relay panel is quite effectivly tucked under the dash, above the glove box, about as far(aft) as possible. The bracket attached to the panel fits rather well with a couple of #10-32 screws/bolts. I presently have switch #4 elevating idle speed to 1200 RPM.
Can you tell me what dealer you ordered the switches from and how much they were.My freind at work just bought 05 350 drw and it did not come with upfitter switches and when he asked the dealer about if he could order them so he could put them in the dealer told him they the were not able to do that. Some thing to the effect they didn't have any part numbers to order them so the told him they were not available unless you order them with the truck.
Sorry for the delay. The desired part number are as follows:
Upfitter switch assy. PN 5C3Z13D730AAA, price is $39.45fficeffice" />>>
>>
Wiring Harness Assy. For Upfitter switches P.N. 5C3Z14A303AA for $18.75.
I can't see where Ford is making any money on the wiring harness as it is about 6 feet long and includes a relay/fuse panel and the connectors for both the existing harness and the upfitter switch assy.. The relays alone from Ford are $5.00 each! The routing is pretty straight forward, use the easiest path through the padding and openings in the dash chassis and it works. I can't seem to get a pic of the relay panel location to work. The panel mounts up under the glove box, about as far aft, or rear of the vehicle as possible. The dealers can't look up these numbers yet, but if you give them the numbers they're response will be "These are good numbers, where did you get them, the web?" Proper response will be "From the good ole' boys on FTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
I just took delivery of my 05 F250 Lairiet 5 days ago. Wanted cab lights but couldn't find one with the upfitter switches installed. So I had the kit on the back seat when I picked it up.
Thanks for the post, now I can get started with it Saturday. So here's the final question.
Where do I plug the power end of the harness into?
I gave the local Ford parts dept those two P/Ns and they did not have them on file. I told the lady I was pretty sure those were accurate and could she check again. She said "Those must be really new part numbers because we just ran our taps two weeks ago." Then she checked against some other list and they turned up accurate. One is in Ft. Worth and the other is backordered until march 8th. Guess I get to wait, sigh.
The 2005 model Super Duty's come equipped, or should I say, pre-wired for a PTO. There is a wire bundle labeled "PTO" near the fuse/relay panel under the drivers side dash. The Orange wire, when energized with 12 VDC, will automatically elevate the idle speed to 1200 RPM when the permissives are met. The premissives are transmition selected to PARK, parking brake ON, and the engine running. I think that's it. The Upfitter Switch wiring harness plugs in to the back side of the same relay/fuse panel under the drivers side. It goes into slot "K". The relay panle mounts above the glove box. See the link below.
Thanks for the info on these post... installation took about 30 minutes start to finish. Really was a 2 on a scale of 1 to 10 in difficulty, once you know where the box bolts and the blug taps in.
