sway bar links

Anybody make quick disconnects for their sway bars. My front ones are shapped like a u and I think I could remove a bolt and put in a pin the type that has the ring that folds over the pin. What about the rear. The end of it looks like a stud kind of like the top stud for a shock. What could be done with that?

The tough thing with making a quick disconnect for the stock bars is you have no way to get them up out of the way. They end up smacking the axle as it cycles. I've looked at a few custom sway bar designs that allow a lot of travel and can be disconnected and tied back but I just decided the easiest way to do this was to pull the whole damn sway bar.

you might as well pull the rear sway bar off! i have found that it doesn't aid much. as for the front that is possible and what you are referring to is a lynch pin found at any hardware store or more likely at a tractor supply store. but like ivan said i pulled mine off too and haven't looked back (yes even for my DD as well as my tow rig)

Well I looked at them today. Thanks Ivan your right they will hit. The only other thing I can think for the front is if I found some type of sleeve to slip over a staight part then have the lynch pin where the bolt goes that way I could take out a longer peice so as not to hit anything. Would I weaken the bar to much if I drillied a 1/4in hole for some type of pin to hold the sleeve so it doesn't move? The rear hasn't been hooked up for a long time now so thats no problem.

Gotta have it for dodging the people at the mall.
I drive it more on the road than in the mud just trying to make all around good 4x4.

if they're slow enough you have to dodge them then they are worth more points

Took mine off and haven't noticed. I think 3/4 ton springs are stiff enough

not at all and i think that is an awesome idea! ir should work although getting the bars to line up everytime could prove to be a bit of a chore!

With adequate lift and big enough tires you don't need to dodge ANYTHING at the mall . . . trust me. Right over the top of them works out fine.
