1989 bronco 5.8 starting problems

have been have trouble with this truck starting, acts likes not getting fuel have changed out the fuel pumps and filter, was working for a while but every now and then it won't start again , sometimes after turing the ignition switch several times i can hear the pumps kick on then it will run, could be an ignition problem any suggestions ????

Sounds like it may be the fuel pump itself or the relay that triggers it. You should hear the pump(s) for a couple of seconds when you turn the key to the "run" position before you hit the start. If not, the relay and/or the pump is suspect.

I just got my 87 5.0 back from the shop with the same problem. It was a loose connection in the harness where it hooks to the pump at the tank. It is fine now!
