Well it's new to me. I used to have 1991 XLT. Now I am buying a 1987 FOr $1000. It has a 302 and a C6 and the towing package. Whats the specs on the 302? The truck has 260K and I already have a spare engine to rebuild for it. I t runs well but she's loss a few of her ponies.
thats a lot of miles so i wouldnt even worry about that motor. swap in a 351 an you will have yourself a mean beast. its an easy swap and you will be much happier with it vs the 302.
Yeah, yeah, yeah... But if you have a 302 sitting there, you might as well make the most of it. A little more torque with the 351 and lot less options when it comes to aftermarket performance shtuff for it. Face it the 302 is still the most widely recognized and performance tuned Ford smallblock. But then the choice is yours.
I appreciate the info. I'm going to use the 302 because I have it and it's complete with intake and brackets. some i'm going to use it. I'll never missthe torque because it won't be stock anyway. the long term plans will be for some heavy off road use.
well you cant mod that motor like you would a mustang motor with out mass air. so dont treat that motor the same way otherwise your wasting money on a no go machine.
for the bronco/f150 both 5.0 and 5.8 have the same aftermarket available. but it comes down to what system the rig is using either speed density or mass air. but even mass air has limits
