Need Help Replacing Cam Position Sensor
This is the first time, so I'd appreciate some advise. I have a 2000 PSD and need to replace the CPU. I looked at some past posts and called International, the parts man says there's 2 types, a black and a blue CPS, says I need to take the CPS out to either tell him the color or the part #.
So I'm looking for this and think its located just above the bottom belt pulley -- is this right? If so, how in the heck do you get to it, my arms don't bend that way! Also, the maintenance manual says you need to jack up the truck first... maybe to get a better angle at getting the CPS out?
Any advice is surely appreciated!

That parts guy is a moron! The blue CAM sensor is for International I-6 engines. He may have been thinking about different black CAM sensors as there are 2 different ones. One has tin pens and the other has gold.

The best way to get to the CPS is to lay under the truck, with your head under the front corner of the block on the passenger's side. Wrap your legs around the front wheel on the driver's side, and look at the front of the block. If the crankshaft is in the center of the "clock", the CPS is at 10 o'clock. You'll need a 10mm socket wrench and a 2" extension to reach the bolt. Work from the front of the belt, and reach through to the bolt. That's what the extension is for.

You might need a big regular screwdriver to pry it out of its hole. Also use a 6 point socket or box wrench to loosen the bolt because it is very tight and a 12 point will round the bolt head off. There are two black CPS seneors one with tin electrical contacts and one with gold, you will want the one with gold contacts.

Thanks for all your help, replacing the CPS was clearcut and fairly simple after getting your advice. Any other parts that may need to be replaced on a moments notice? We do some horsehauling into some remote areas and I wouldn't want to breakdown for lack of being prepared. Thanks again,
