I have a 2001 F250 7.3L 4X4 CC. During braking I will hear 1 thump coming from under the driver's side floor board. I don't think it happens during turning. Experts....I'm asking.
If the ball joints are eliminated as a problem, the only other thing that comes to mind would be loose caliper bolts. I've seen this on other vehicles from time to time, just a thought.
If this is only happening while your braking.....and your feeling a thump under your feet. Here's a couple of things to check. If you look in your maintenance manual....around 100k. Ford states that on 4x4s the U bolts should be checked for looseness. I think they state to take them to 120 ft.lbs......something like that. Also, you might want to look at the torsion bar links that connect from the bar up to the frame on both sides. Sometimes the bushings give way, and you will feel them take up the slack when you brake.
