I think the power booster is bad on my truck, but I am not sure. A couple of thoudsand miles ago I replace my brakes, new shoes and pads, new calipers, and new brake lines. My problem is that when I apply my brakes for a few seconds they get spongy, and the pedal goes to the floor. I have checked the fluid level and it is full, so I think it is the power booster.
only does it with engine running. If I keep pumping peddal the engine runs smother. When I come to a stop sign and have pressure on the peddle, it eventually goes all the way to the floor.
Just went through the same thing about a month ago. The master cylinder is the reason the pedal drops to the floor. Sounds like your booster may be faulty, too. Mine was causing a vacuum leak, which would account for your change in idle.
I picked up the MC/booster assembly from Auto Zone for around $100.
