Pump for parts washer

I found someone that has a parts washer that needs a pump. I read a post here where someone used a dishwasher pump to replace the pump on a parts washer.

Does this work? Does it have the flow and pressure and will it handle the solvent. Probably will use diesel or Simple Green.

Any other ideas for a pump?
Thanks, KarlJay.

An old oil pump will work also but the grit in the fluid will destroy it eventually.

Couldn't you put a filter on it?

If one were to put an oil filter in, it would have to be after the pump, because of the restriction in the media. Or one could use a screen on the pick up and reduce the effect on the pump wear. We use oil type filters on the fuel tank on the farm and it is painfully slow with gravity feed. A pump would starve and cause cavitations, thus shorting the live of the pump even more.

Also need to be very careful using any solvent with a dishwasher or washing machine pump as they are not designed for that....spark resistant

Little Giant makes nice pumps. I've have one of their pumps in one of my washers for 16 years with no problems.

I have a Sunnen hone for motorcycle cylinders. I put a little giant in it years ago. Works fine.
