56 vs 53 Cab Skirt

I have all the hardware to convert my 53 cab skirt to the 56 style. Bought stuff from Mid-Fifty and I think it is stock style? What's the best hardware to attach the skirt to the lip on the bottom of the cab, and the rubber to the hanger? I'm in the process of grinding mine off today. Screws or clips to mount. Doesn't have to be stock, though I am curious how it was attached by Ford. Want it to look neat from the outside.

It just occurred to me you can install these upside down if you try hard enough. Which one is the drivers side? It has predrilled approx 1/4" holes. This for the rubber, or the lip on the cab?

dwayne-
On my 56 the rubber was originally stapled to the metal and the metal was held on with sheet metal screws. When I replaced it I used SS button head screws with nuts and attached the rubber with the push-on black plastic fasteners you find at body shop supply stores. Resemble a screw but they have a one-way serrated edge. That probably doesn't make sense and I can't recall what they are called but it worked pretty well. You set the metal strips so that the rubber falls behind the running board.

Thanks, I'll probably use similar hardware, but I am still not sure of the orientation. L and R can definitely be installed on either side by merely flipping it over. One way is obviously going to be upside down. I don't want some stocker nutcase like George climbing under my truck and deducting points.

OK- you got my curiosty up and I made a trip to the garage to see how I installed mine (right or wrong). When viewing your photo the one on the right would be the passenger side. This would allow the rubber skirt to fall "behind" the running board.

And tell George to stop looking up your "skirt"!

Ditto on the placement. Instead of the stock staples, I attached the rubber with SS #6 bolts, nuts and washers about every two inches. John
