Started Old Betsy this morning at 8:15 at 5 degrees. Hadn't been run for about 2 weeks and it has been cold here in Central PA for those 2 weeks with temps at or near zero each morning for about the last week. It popped right off after a little bit of cranking. I let it run for about 15 minutes.
At noon since it was a sunny, yet cold day, I took it for a spin. It started real quick with very little choke. What a beautiful day for a drive in the country with a nice clean truck! Lots of head turns and thumbs up!!
That's how to get out of the mid winter blahs!

clean '54 F-100 and 2 dirty salt covered mini vans in the drive way!!
A block heater will help with cold starting.. I lived in Maine for years and it was a life saver.. quick engine warm ups and almost heat right off the bat..
What a nice feeling that must be. I had to settle for starting Earl in the garage and letting him run for 15-20 minutes on the jack stands. Didn't get to do a drive, but still enjoyed it. We had clouds and a little snow today - one of those gray days you wish were less frequent.
Abe, I know what you mean about that good feeling when it comes to life. I try to start my F1 every couple of weeks. Last Friday at -3 degrees, I gave it full choke and three stomps on the gas pedal and that 6V battery brought it to life. I put a couple of pictures in my gallery. As a kid in the early 50's, we had a 1947 Ford Dump truck on the farm and that usually started in the cold weather also.
