Hi. I have a 90 E350. Crank windows and some rust on the doors. I have access to an 89 hi top donor van, with no rust on doors and with power locks and windows. I am going to switch the doors. What else do I have to take and where do I find it, to make the windows and locks work on the front doors? I don't care if the back work. Thanks for any help.
Hey trike,i wonder if the donor van you are speaking about has the electric fold down couch and if so would you be interested in selling the cables that come off the motor and go to the screws? Mine are missing please reply if you think you could help.
Thanks,
Joe
I don't know if it is electric or not, but I will look today and get back to you.
Hey... as long as the vulures are circling, any chance you can snag the rear driver's side door latching mechanism? Mine's been broken since i bought the van...
I understand the window part. My main concern is the keyless entry. Where is the control for that? In each door? Thank you.
the power door lock actuators are a two wire motor, the polarity to them is reversed to lock/unlock the doors. the switches on the doors control a switching relay that reverses the polarity to the lock actuators. the remote entry control is tied into that, located under the dash...somewhere.
That's what I needed to know. I'll start looking for it over the week end. I'll pull the dash apart. Thanks.
you can build one,
use two automotive relays(I like to use ones that have a socket)
wire both of the NC terminals to ground along with one side of each coil.
wire both NO terminals to 12+ make sure you fuse it(20 amp)
mark one with a L and the other with a U
put the wires from the lock motors to the commons
figure which wire on the switch will provide 12v for the press of L and U and wire to the other coil terminal.
check for proper operation, reverse wires to motor if not operation is opposite of disired action.
you can use this with an after market alarm also, just check the lock/unlock outputs to see if they grounding or apply voltage to unlock the doors.
