power lock problem
power lock problem
Okay, so im putting power door locks, windows and mirrors on my van. the van i got the power doors from is a 1995 Ford Clubwagon XLT. We've gotten the mirrors to work, and the windows. but for some reason the locks are messed up. When power is put to them, the unlock switch locks it and lock unlocks it. when the polarity is reversed nothing happens. What I guess I need is either someone to tell me what im doing wrong or to give me a wiring schematic? can anyone help?
Did you ever figure out what was wrong? We have similar problem when we depress the lock on remote it locks and if we press lock again it unlocks. And with doors locked if we pull on the door handles it turns on the inside lights
and unlocks the doors.
and unlocks the doors.
since this thread is seems to be about power locks in a club wagon, Ifigure I'll post my question here. My locks on my '98 Chateau will start to lock and unlock at random while I am driving, and when I lock it overnite, in the morning it will sometimes be open. Anyone ever have this problem? is there a module that could cause the locks to whig out? I'm thinking it might be a short? help, its making me nuts on the long highway trips.

That is exactly the problem we are working on. One other symptom we seen was after locking the van we could pull on the door handles and that would unlock the door. Well so far we replaced both of the power lock switches and the problem seems to have gone away. Oh I forgot one other thing we did was to disconnect the wiring which apparently sends a signal to turn on the inside lights when the handle is moved, even though the car is locked. It seem kinda stupid to have a feature where somebody can walk up to a locked van and pull the handle and the inside lights turn on. Guess that is for robbers to take a peek inside before breaking in. That connector is inside the door near the handle.
I've pulled the module for the power doors located in the panel behind the drivers seat that actuates the door with the remote and door locks. With that unplugged the electric door locks don't work nor does the remote. I'm sure there is a fuse that could have been pulled for the same thing?!
The module is around $200-300 to replace from ford dealer and looks to be in perfect condition. I'd hate to replace this to find its just a ground problem somewhere triggering this.
any ideas?
