How do I remove temperature adjustment wire?????

My wire running from the back of the Hot/Cold adjustment lever broke last winter, and i wanted to fix it. I tore apart the dash and found the little rod that it connects to right behind the second passenger air vent. I was wondering if i was suppose to take the whole rod out with the wire when i replace it, or if the wire just slips off. I tried to slide the wire off the little rod thing and it didn't come. I didn't want to force it and break something. Could anyone please explain the procedure to change that adjustment wire. thanx....

Hi Wilber,
From what I can recall some of them have a small speed nut which justs holds the wire down onto the lever. If you are careful and can get at it you can use a small pair of pliers or needlenose to pull off the clip and then slide off the wire from the lever. I'm hoping that it is the style that I think or I will be wrong. Some do have small screws that hold them in but I'm not positive if this is your case. I hope I have helped and if not maybe you could describe it a bit more.
