It was actually really easy, the only bad part was I made a mistake of sanding it in short sleeve shirt, I itched like crazy for about 3 days. For anyone wanting to do it heres how I did it, first I took out the passenger seat, then covered the carpet with duct tape, then put down a layer of heavy duty aluminum foil(make sure to duct tape any seams)and roll the edge of the foil all the way around so there is a lip to catch any run away resin. Then put a layer of matting on the foil and apply the resin. I put two layers of mat and resin down and it was rigid enough to lift out of the truck, then I kept laminating it till it was 1/2-3/4 inch thick on the top side. Once the base was done I cut two rings out of mdf and mounted them to the base with 1x2s at the angle I wanted I screwed the 1x2s to the mdf and used resin to hold them to the base I also had to put two arches made from mdf in it to get the shape i wanted. then cover the whole thing in fabric, I used some old T shirts, the frabric has to be strechty, I used 3M spray adhesive to hold the fabric to the rings and base, then brushed the resin onto the fabric. after it set up I laminated the top with mat and resin, but left the insides of the rings only fabric so it was easy to cut out. So after I had the shell I had to add recesses in each side so the seat would slide forward, and also from the inside I filled the seams ( where the top meets the base, and around the mdf rings) with fiberglass the best way I found to do this was to cut the mat into little pieces arond 1/2 inch squares and mix them right into the resin, then put it into the seams with a putty knife. Then all that was left was to get it smooth with bondo. Also it bolts down where the original console bolted got to take the front speaker out to bolt it into the truck, and It cost $150 to have ic covered. and the materials cost $150-200.
"eeezy for you. Deefeecult for me" fantastic job. How long have you been working with fiberglass? Take a few more pictures. What does it look like from the back? I have a crew-cab, with the x-box game controller in the back of the stock console.
Not something I would tackle myself, but I am envious.

this is the first thing I have built, right now I am working on a dash mounted pod that holds a autometer monster tach and shift light. There are some more pictures of it in my gallery.
I made blockt to raise the rear seat 5" By using 2"x4" steel tubing. See my Sterio system gallery. It also allows for room to mount amps or rear bulkhead.
Long story short; I buy a 99 PSD supercab from the estate of a friend whom passed away unexpectedly. I knew he had installed subs in the truck, but it turns out he built an enclosure in the bed and apparently cut through the front of the bed and the back of the cab to sound in. He used a heavy rubber gasket as a seal between the two.
I have never seen this and realize now (too late) that this may affect the long term value of the truck, not to mention what it does to bed space. I thought it was a box for storage and could be easily removed.
I know, I know, you're wondering why I didn't figure this out beforehand, just trust me that one day I am at a funeral and the next day I am being offered a price for a truck that is too good to pass up.
Have you ever seen such a set up? I do get very good low end, but I think this goes under the "What was he thinking" catagory!
I remember years (25 or so) back when I first saw that done in a mini truck. It was popular in the past where space was a problem. I am sure they still do it today when you dont want to interfear with the vehicles interior you can just have it piped in, especially when you have a bed to build the speaker box in.
Vankaye,
I have the 2000 model crew cab. I moved the back seat foward about 2.5". The box is 50" long, 17" high, 7" wide at top, and 17" wide at bottom (cant remember the formula for cubes right now...). The sub is mounted on one side and there is a vent port at the other. The amp is mounted next to that. It is Memphis audio amp and sub. My digital camera is broke right now, so no pics yet
