I have a 2004 F150 STX SuperCab 4.6Liter Triton and have been having a problem.I have 67 thousand miles(hwy)with routine maintenace.For a few days,my truck has surged when i accelerate.It happens during a pass or getting on the freeway.It feels like you are pushing the pedal and letting off over and over untill you actually do let off the pedal.Has anyone had or heard of this problem.Or maybe im overlooking a routine maintenance?Please help!I love my truck.

I have the 5.4l. I had fluxuations during idle on rare occassion. It has to do w/ the PCM as the gas pedal is fly by wire. The dealer installed the latest program in mine and it seems to be fine now.My guess would be that you need a similar remedy.

Have you changed the fuel filter on your truck? It sounds like it may be dirty or have gotten some moisture from the winter fuel blend. A lot of times doing "routine maintenance" it gets skipped. On my '02 the FF was tucked in the drivers side frame rail. I suspect that it is the same with the '04 but I haven't noticed it when under the truck. It also takes special tools to change it out.
