I just bought a 2000 f-150 got one key and one fob. Bought an after market duracell fob. Tried to program no go but it left my original fob non-functional. After trying every possible combo I could find (7) I decided to try getting and installed system. I went to a local installation shop explained the problem and asked for price of a new install. The install asked if I saw the parking lights blink. No the instructs for the Ford keyless entry is for the locks to cycle. He had seen the fob in my hand and new it was not a ford fob but a compustar fob. He took my key and fob to the truck got in closed the door and it just a few seconds had the original fob working. He verified that the Duracell would not work with the Compustar system. Also told me many dealers when asked to install keyless ignition on a car that did not come originally equipped., would install the Compustar system. Found two compustar fobs on the internet for $24 each ordered and also found the process is: with door closed, cycle the key 5 times, Park light will flash twice, within two seconds press lock button on first fob, Lights will flash then press next fob lock button, wait for light flash then repeat for next fob
I'm trying on the wife's Crown Vic ... using the 8 per 10 sec. ... Getting to the programing mode after the 8 twists on the ignition ... But, after the door locks cycle and I press a button on the "fob" (4 button) nothing happens
I've tried a number of times and ... Nada, nothing, no go ....
Could it be a bad "fob"
The wife lost her keys and the remote .... Got a new key done, and , was then going to add on the new transmitter (fob)
Any help would be appreciated ... and I replaced the lithium battery
I have a 2004 F250 (4-door) and I had the darnedest time figuring this out, but if you first get in the drivers side and lock the doors, then unlock all the doors before putting the key in the ignition to perform the 8 cycles of off/on in 10 seconds (leaving the key in the "on" position on the 8th turn, the doors will lock and unlock, at which time you have 20 seconds to press any key on your fob or fobs to program them. Finally, turn the key to the off position and your key fob(s) should be programed. The dealer was of no real help on this, unfortunately. I hope this helps some folks out! Good luck!
Just bought a 2007 E350 with 34K miles. Key fobs would not work. Inserted new batteries..nothing. Followed the standard turn ignition switch on and off 8 times in ten seconds ..the van would not enter programming mode. Followed Biggbradwolf's procedure and we now have two working key fobs. Biggbradwolf, you are my hero.
Greetings all,
Just confirming the successful programming instructions for my 2003 EB Expedition 4X4 in June of 2012.
1) Have your remotes with you.
2) Enter the vehicle and close all doors
3) Lock and unlock using the door/window control panel (driver's left)
4) Insert key into ignition lock
5) Rapidly rotate the key from off to run (max turn w/o starting) 8 times
within 10 seconds.
You will hear/see the locks engage and disengage
6) Press the lock button on the first FOB to be programmed.
You will hear the locks cycle.
7) Press the lock button on the next FOB to be programmed.
Again, you hear the lock cycle to confirm.
8) Repeat step 7 up to a maximum of four remotes
9) Turn the ignition to off position for a final confirmation of success.
Oh, prior to starting the process, I started the vehicle and turned off everything I could, e.g., A/C, radios, other electronics, etc. to avoid possible surges from damaging relays...blah blah blah. After several attempts using other failed programming methods, I sat listening to the A/C firing up at each rapid turn of the key thinking; oh boy, I can just see A/C and other relays freaking out and getting fried. Just my emotional issue; but it can't hurt. I did not need to discon the vehicle's battery.
Anyway, I ran the above instructions twice to confirm their accuracy.
They're good-2-go (at least for my machine).
Enjoy!

OK I spent an hour yesterday trying to program new fobs on my 06 expedition. It would never go into program mode. I tried this procedure today and it worked perfectly. The only difference was step 3. When I added the lock/unlock step, the rest worked perfectly. Thanks
Tried all of the above at least a dozen times. Just about to give up, tried one more by doing the on/off thing RAPIDLY . That did it! door open, seatbelt engaged, on/off (fast) voila programmed two new units )plus the original. One weird thing, my replacements have the rear gate and window reversed,,, don't care! all good.
