My 2000 EB has decided it doesn't want a new key fob for unlocking the doors. I did this about a year ago with no problems, but my wife left her keys at our son's house in Waco so I was trying to get her a temporary set to use. I tried the key-on-key-off-8-times procedure 3-4 times and got nothing this time. The doors never locked-unlocked to let me know it was in programming mode. Is there a maximum number of times you can do this, and then you have to take it to the dealer, or some crap like that going on?
Your procedure sounds like the one in the owner's manual for my '02 Expy. Did you perform the 8-time off-on cycle WITHIN 10 seconds? Was the key "on" at the end of the 8th cycle? The doors will ONLY lock/unlock if you end at "on" at the end of the 8th cycle. Try it again, and once you confirm the unlock/lock clunk in the door, remember to hit ANY buttom on the remote within 20 seconds to "program" the remote fob. You must program ALL your remote fobs with this procedure, not just the new one you're adding to your existing one(s). Good luck if I told you something you didn't know.
P.S.: A hint that the programming is REALLY complete for each fob is that the doors will clunk lock/unlock when you turn the key to the final "off" position. Also, in your case, there's no limit to the number of "tries", because your previous programming was unsuccessful.
hi did you ever get your remotes working, we are experincing the same problem and dont know what to do next.....vehicle enters programming mode but yet the fobs dont respond. actaully the first time, the first fob responded but not the second. when i went to do it again, nothing has happened since, we have tried this various tmes and no luck, help...........
I had originally taken it to the dealer after I tried to program it the first time. They did exactly what I had done with the same results. Told me to bring it in and they would try to figure it out. Needless to say I haven't been back, I was hoping someone on some of the boards had been through the same problem and could lead me to an answer. But no luck on 3 or 4 different forums, so I just use my key..
pa pa alan- we got it.....try disconecting the car battery for a few minutes and then trying the program method again. I said this to my friend on wed and he trid it this morning and is able toget both fobs working......god luck and thanks for initailly answering my post...
