Question 1954 f100 4.6???

Hey, I was just wondering about this. there is a good deal on a f100 in the paper that is just a frame/body at a good price. I see these ads for a 4.6+5speed for fairly cheap, and I wonder, how hard is it to put one of these setups in there? How much to pay someone to fit it in? Is it basically impossible?I know It would be a PITA to wire, but I dont really mind that kinda stuff. Also, I love the reliability of the EFI and the milege. All I would need to pay someone to do would be to somehow fit the engine /tranny in. Then, I could rebuild the suspension/wire it myself. I am assuming that these are 6 volt. A 12 volt system wouldnt be that hard considering the fact that I am skilled at the wiring issues more than anythign else. Thanks a lot. Any other comments are appreciated.

There should be plenty of room in the engine bay for the 4.6. The trick to the install would be fabing/buying and engine swap kit. The older motors mounted up a little differently, so you just need to update it. Then the tranny falls in place and a new drive shaft is purchased. Cost to complete by a shop is usually standard labor of $65/hr.....

Ok, sounds good. I will look more into it. I knew it could fit, but I was wondering about the difficulty. Thanks, hopefully I can get some more insight

They switched to 12 volt in '55, but you can easily get anything that was built in 6 volt replaced with 12 volt, or rebuilt for 12 volt.

I don't know anything else about these trucks, but you might stop by the older truck section here, and ask those guys.
