You cannot put 17" rims on the 350's because of the larger brakes. That is why Ford does not offer the 17" option on the 350's. The 250's are another story-17" rims are standard, 18" wheels are optional. BFG is coming out with a 285/70/16 sometime later this year. I believe it is in the design/production stage.
[QUOTE=martin350]Has anyone been able to find a good tire for the 05 18" wheel?
What size are you looking for? Michelin's Pilot LTX ($190 @ TireRack) and BF Goodrich's Rugged Trail T/A ($157 @ TireRack) come in a 275/65X18" tire. But, w/o knowing exactly what size you're interested in, it makes it kind of hard to give you precise help!
Unless the 05 F 350 is a dual rear wheels DRW then 18's will fit and 17's arestandard !Its never simple

My dealer is giving me back the money I paid for an option I did not receive on an ordered vehicle. AT ordered MS received . My BSW MS Contis are excellent on ice and in the rain.
They are as good a MS tire as I have ever owned and I will wear them down before I replace them . Tires are produced a batch at a time and I do not doubt those that are not happy with their Contis but the set I have on my truck are absolutely fine, Wrenchtraveller.
In 2005 Ford increased the disk brake diameters so that 16" rims no longer are able to be used. Now it is 17", 18", and up that will fit. (I don't know if old 16.5s will clear the brakes.)
If you could find 18" with the correct design for DRW they would fit but for now Ford only has 17" rims on the duallys. Dually axles and rims are designed so that any rim will fit at any location: front, rear, inner, or outter.
In 2005 Ford also changed the axle lengths slightly so pre 05 rims do not exactly fit due to different offset dimension.
All 99 to present Ford SuperDuty axles use the same 8 lug bolt pattern.
Well, I found some BF Goodrich Mud Terrain tires that FIT! We tried out a 35x12.50R18/D on the F350 CC 4x4 with heavy duty suspension package, and there's just BARELY enough clearance - about 1/2" - to the rear of the fender well when the wheel is max-cranked. Gettin' 'em installed on Tuesday! ~~~~~TrekChick
I just picked up a 05` f350 srw.. Just to fill some people in the my 16.5 welds off my 03` will not clear the calipers. Also like stated before in this thread there was an obvious difference in the 05` axle wheel flange to wheel flange distance. Probably close to 2 inches per side wider. So if the 16.5" wheels would of fit they would look like some of the goofy dodges and chevys going down the road with 5 inches of scronny little tire sticking out of the wheelwell. So even if you see a set of 17`s or 18`s make sure to check the backspacing before you buy, or the cheap price might cost you in the long run....
