what does "dumped mean"

what does "dumped mean"

sorry if i'm asking a stupid question but i have been reading tones of threads about how to make exhaust sound louder and some people are talking about dumping it right after the muffler. Does this mean ending the exhaust system at the muffler and having no pipin coming out of the muffler?Thanks

Most of the time you just throw a turn-down pipe on right after the muffler. This "dumps" the exhaust under the bed of the truck so that it echo's off of the ground.
