headers on a 351w

i'm thinking about putting headers on my 94 f350 4x4 351w, the engine is pretty stock except i have dual exhaust with 12 inch glass packs, my question is will i see any performance upgrades or power gains or would i just be throwing my money away? what is a good brand if i decide to do this? any help would be appreciated.

From: Destin/Ft. Walton Beach,
If you're going to use headers, go with an equal length set. The long tube are the best, and the equal length primary shorties are second. The unequal length shorties will give a little gain, but not as much. As far as gaining 35 ponies? It all depends on what else you do. I seriously doubt that just headers will give you 35 hp. It would take getting more air into the engine, to make getting more air out help you that much. Any gain is worth it though. Right?

if you run longtube headers it will require other exhaust work to get it bolted up. also longtubes done always fit good because of the frame and tcase getting into the way , they also hang down further sometimes below the frame which puts it at risk of getting damaged while off roading. if you want a bolt in type header is suggest you get a set of shorties by gibson, jba, edelbrock or bassini. with headers you get what you pay for so dont skimp on price its just not worth it.

good luck

Here is some information from an issue of Hot Rod Magazine that conducted some tests:

the total change from cast-iron manifolds and 2-inch stock-type mufflers to headers and 2-1/2-inch exhaust was worth 14 lbs-ft of torque at 2750 rpm, 18 horsepower at 4500 rpm and 33 horsepower at 5500 rpm.
