Rube,
First we're lying because we get better mileage than you, now we must be lying because we get worse mileage? Why don't you just post the "truth", so that we all know it and never deviate from it in your presence!
My experience in life has shown me that people who are quick to question the honesty of others are only speaking out on intimate knowledge of their own integrity.
Caveat Emptor

In 25 posts here you have managed to annoy and pee in the cornflakes of a lot of good helpful people
Time for a little self analysis brother
We say that a V10 take a good long time to break in
We say that the average V10 gets 11-14 mpg
We say that modifying the new truck is usually a bad idea (Traxxus Mudders 305X18 ring a bell?)
We say Ford V10 are temperamental to brand and type fuel
We say right foot and Max tire pressure are the two biggest impacts on good mpg
We say that to achieve BSEG every day one has to ignore the mpg
You have time to post your questions, render you opinions, and then if some one makes an observation that you are a drag ...you PUBLICLY state that you really don't care? Interesting, nice communal fellow you seem to be.
OK fellow SuperDuty owner here is a little ugly truth we would rather keep in the family...some times Ford SuperDuty V10s are just plain dogs. I told you this some time ago when I referred to my 8 commercial use V10s some have extraordinary power and a few are real gas guzzling DOGS! It happens.

besides bad gas milage it also ate 3 auto tranies. 4 sets of brake rotors. 1 set of rear springs broken main leaf. one torsion bar, 2 sets of ball joints and a lot more some thing like 7500 dollars in non warrenty repairs and i did all the labor . if you don't like your ford sell it and leave us alone. i'm 58 years old a retired c.p.o of uncle sam. and speak with a straight tounge not forked like you.
It's too bad there is always a winer around. I hope the occasional bad post from newer users does not scare away any new users that are unsure if there concerns are worth a post on this A-1 site. I look forward to reading new post as often as I can just to learn more about these great trucks we drive. I will admit I have had my doubts about the V-10 in my '05 but by no means would I switch to one of the lesser brands. Instead I just purchased an older F150 with the tried and true 300ci 6 to do my local commuting (and to modify a little, I miss the 35's that I was running on my '02 before I bought my new dually) Keep up the great post and replies.
lab.
i hope i have not been one to scare you away from a 05 v10.
i have to say i love mine and it's the best truck i have owned. the new motor is great.it's every thing fred said it would be and more. when and if you go for a new one . you will love it. good luck
Naw, you didn't Charlie, Labwillow got him an 05 3 valver too it is just that he has about a bazzillion tons of dump body and plow hangers and the dang truck really gets sucky gas milage... so he scarfed up a cheap F150 for the grocery getting and bar hopping (grin)
Well I drive my v-10 in a normal manner..light foot..speed limit..it's sort of flat here in Northern, Ohio..never expected great MPG..This is a tow vehicle..however on my last trip down the interstate, no Rv..just running up some miles,,has less that 600 now,,65MPH @2200RPMs (4:30 diff) cruise control..13.7 MPG..that's not great but this is a really big/heavy truck with a really big motor..never saw any 7 or 8MPG's here worst was 10.1 on my first trip down the interstate and it gets better everytime out.
Could the way you drive have anything to do with the MPG you get.Hummmmm.
I've got a Honda Civic for MPG.It don't pull a camper real good....
Fred,
I hadn't focused on previous threads referencing gas brand effects on MPG, so I was taken aback by a recent decline in my mileage. Your post lit the light bulb on the direct correlation to my shift from shell to gulf gasoline. You only get what you pay for!
Ditto!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The truck is way too sweet to care.
But for information needed by others I'll submit my 2 cents: 943 miles, on odometer, at 10.7mpg. Good luck, John.

1100 miles on an 05 already and still showing the 2003 in your signature...shame, shame, shame!
OK just ribbing ya some...
Check your tire pressure, turn the display on the message console to trip, hours, remaining miles or off.... at next fill up reset the MPG display and then get it out of sight. For the next 3 tanks drive until more than half is used. Top off at same station , same pump, and same amount to "final clicks" and record gallons and mileage.
After the third tank is about used do another top off and record. Now add all the gallons and divide into all the miles and get you three tank average. Then change the display to MPG and see how much difference between your manual method and what the computer says. Record. repeat this three tank method every three tanks for three cycles and then average all your manual and all the computer results. You will have a fairly accurate idea if the computer is always off a little high or a little low.
I doubt your truck is really at 7.6mpg...if it really is, you have succumbed to the BSEG syndrome and your right foot has gained 25 lbs and now needs a boot two sizes bigger than the left one!
