Suggestions from Consumer reports are bogus to me...
they've been proven wrong so many times... I wonder how they stay in business...
(Oh, I know... they take money to "adjust" their testing !!!!!)
I am not saying I hang on every word they say.... Just sharing this particular groups findings. I this case I happen to believe their findings to be somewhat valid.
DON'T DO IT! I'm new i'll admit i'm not the brightest person and i just got started in the game. They don't work, tell you what the "tornado" was good for though, my dog simply loves it. save you money
I bought one and installed it two years ago. I have always paid close attention to my mileage. I noticed no increase at first, so I figured since I paid the money for it to leave it in. After a while I decided to do cone air filter to replace the stock airbox, and made my own airbox to make it a cold air kit, and left the Tornado in. I also got a Gibson cat back exhaust. These helped my mileage maybe 1 mpg. However, a couple months later, I decided to take the Tornado out, just to see how it worked. My mileage immediately went up about 2 mpg, and has been consistant ever since. If any one wants my Tornado, you can have it if you want to pay the shipping, because I'm not spending another dime towards that overpriced paperweight.
If you want more mileage and power, a Cold air intake and a good exhaust will be the most beneficial, but you will never save enough money on gas for them to pay for themselves. Do it for the power and take the extra mileage as a bonus, or at least to justify it to your wife.
