I bought a 6 inch super lift lift kit, for my 03 sc short box 250 with the v-10.
I was wondering if I could fit a 38x15.50 tire using a 16x10 rim on my truck with just a 6 inch lift. I dont plan to do any heavy offroading. I would use 37's, but they generally only come in narrower widths. I plan on going with the PJ dirt gripz or Gound Hawgz. Im not sure about the GH's because they only come in a 16.5 rim which is becoming something of the past.
If anyone knows if this combo will work please let me know.
Not a chance, unless you want to do some cutting. 1-2" too tall and 2-3" too wide. You're gonna rub like crazy with that size on a 6" lift. The biggest that most of the manufacturers are recommending on 6" is 37x12, some are saying 36x12. I was looking at the PJ 36 x 14.4 and those would have rubbed pretty good because of the width.
6" Edge all spring kit with 36 X 14.5 PJ's. I trimmed some off the plastic below the bumber and cut about 1" off the lower corner of the bumper. It is not really noticable. The tires don't rub on this truck when offroading. However, the 6" Edge kit actually gave me 6 3/4" of lift even with a psd and winch up front. I like the look and floatation of a wide tire and I think the 36 X 14.5 are pushing the limit on a 6" lift without major trimming and Bushwacker flares.
Well, I guess Im not going to be fitting 38's. Those 36's look really good. I still think that I can fit a 37 12.50 ive seen it done. I have 35 10.50's on the truck now with no lift, so a 37 should fit fine, although I do like the look of a wider tire.
hey do you have any before pictures, im wondering how much of a lift to put on my truck either 6 or 4 dont wanna go to high
I have a 10.5" Edge w/ 20 x10 EVO velocity 8's and 38" tires I was going to go with a 12.5 but tires are way too expensive. plus my 2 year old son will have a harder time getting in
Toyo makes a 37" M/T, think its 14" wide x18. I just got The 35x12.50x18 M/T's and they are great. Go to superduty headquarters web site to see a good gallery of trucks with different wheel, tire and lift combos.
