I have a '53 F 100 with a brand new rebuild 351C which runs and looks great.
I am converting to a Mustang II IFS and was just informed my the manufacturer (Fat Man Fabrications) that I need to install a rear sump oil pan on the engine to make their system work.
Does anyone know a supplier for the oil pan and pickup?
I do not want to install a chevy engine in my F-100
The reason I ask is Moroso & Milodon after market rear sump pans but right up against the bell housing leaving no way to get to the torque converter studs. They would be fine for a stick, but I wouldn't want to drop my pan every time I wanted to separate the trans from the motor.
you can get the torque convertor bolts through the starter hole but there is a cheaper way, and that is get an oil pan from a late 70s ford 4x4 351m/400 they are rear sump, and will bolt right onto the cleve.
I had a look at a 4x4 351m pan and a regular 2 wheel drive 1980-82 351m pan and they appeared to be the same.If you get it from the wreckers just grab the dipstick tube, dipstick, oil pump pick-up and mounting stud.
I have a '53 F100 with a 400. I used a rear sump oil pan and pickup tube from a 4x4, and got the mounting stud and dip stick from the dealer. I have a C6 auto, and TCI coil-over-shock IFS. The motor sits a little higher than I would like, because the oil pan doesn't totally clear the IFS cross member. I think that I could have had the cross member modified slightly to clear. I talked to the people at TCI about that and they said that they could do it, but when I ordered it from a distributor, I forgot to specify that. It would have taken longer to get a special order.
Talk to Fat Man, Heidts, and TCI to see if you can get a modified cross member.
