Replace Oil Pan

I have to replace my oil pan on my 1971 Ford F100, 302, do I have to remove the engine? or can the oil pan be replaced without pulling the engine??

Thank YOU!

Replace Oil Pan

I haven't done that on a 302, but my 360, I had to take the motor mounts loose and use a cherry picker to lift the engine a little to get the oil pan to clear the oil pump. If you like pain you can drop the pan then reach in from the front edge of the pan and remove the bolts that hold the oil pump on and let it fall into the pan. Then you can probably get it off without lifting the engine. The BIG problem comes with putting it back on. Reaching your hand in there puting the pump drive rod up into the distributor, holding it up, manuvering the pump into the correct position while starting the bolts and doing it all by feel....
I would rather pull the engine!
