Squeaky breaks – New Ranger

Guys – I have a new 4x4 Ranger - 2700 miles – The breaks are squeaking like mad – Its driving me nuts – Dealer says its “normal” – Is he full of beans? – Will it stop after a few more thousand miles?

I test drove about 7 different Rangers – None of them did this.

Some noise can be normal, noise all the time is not. Talk with the owner of the dealership, if you still don't get some help give Ford a call, the number is in the back of the owners manual.

When I bought my 03 Ranger brand new, the brakes did not make any noise for the first little while. I don't remember the exact miles on the truck, but the front brakes began to squeak about a month later. I thought it was odd that a brand new truck would have squeaky brakes, but a friend of mine told me it was not unusual for a new ford truck. After a while the squeaking went away, the truck has 22,000 miles and the brakes are still less than half worn with no problems.

The number 1 cause for brake noise is vibration. You probably have something loose like a pad or a clip or something. Just check everything and make sure it is not loose.
