I need the GVWR for my van in order to qualify for a less stringent smog check test out here in California. I know my van is heavy enough to qualify, but unfortunatly my specifications somehow got scraped off of the inside door. None of these smog check technicians will take the time to help me out on this. Does anyone know a resource for finding this information?

My impression is that if you take the VIN to your local Ford dealer, they maybe can get the info for you. I'd try the dealer's repair facility. Good luck.
The VIN will tell you the range of your GVWR as it was produced. I think the CARFAX site will break down your VIN for you. Otherwise, just do a search for VIN or Ford related sites. I know I have found sites in the past that will break down your VIN for you, but I am sorry I can't remember them off hand. Otherwise, the dealership should be able to tell you what the GVWR is from the VIN.
Thanks for that! I found a smog technician that just went ahead and believed me and entered it into the computer. I'll look into finding a site that will break down my VIN for the next time though.
