I currently have the ford gold series remote start on my truck and it works pretty good for the most part. As far as cpl624's comment about being difficult to do, that statement is unfounded. Most of the remote starters out there do support diesel engines. All of the Ford stuff, which by the way is produced by Code Alarm, works on the 6.0L. The 6.0L even gives you a tach sensor wire to hook into.
I also have the Astro remote starter. It automatically lets the glow plugs cycle as if you had turned on the key. So far no complaints; everything works good. I haven't used the automatic tepmerature option. Sometimes when I can't see the truck the little interactive device that tells you when the vehicle has started might be nice. Mine was an option through the dealer although they did not install it.
I've got a question for you Astro users. One of the only things about my Viper I don't like is the fact that once the remote start has cycled through its time and shuts down, the accessory delay on the vehicle still remains active for the ten minutes, since there is no one there to open the door and cancel it, and the system has no direct interface to shut it down. This means anything I leave on stays on for the duration, radio, etc. Is this also true of the Astro?

Good question. I always turn off my radio and crank the fan to high defrost when I exit the vehicle....so I could not say. I have been in the habit of turning off accessories for years when it is cold out.
An alarm company called Bulldod makes a T harness that you can put in place between the connectors. This will cut down in installation time and also can be removed if the truck goes in for warranty work. Problem is I can't figure out if I need the FD-1 or FD-3
the wiring changed from 03 to 04????
Code makes Alarm/starters that are diesel reedy with turbo cool down timers.
The only thing that comes on with my Astro is the heater controls. No radio, wipers etc. The only way that I can activate these functions is be turning the key on.

That's what I thought. I believe, but I am not sure, that there is a programming option for my alarm/remote start that allows the accesories to be on or off during remote start.
