Has anybody installed a Ford Powercode remote start and keyless entry P/N 2W7Z-19G364-BA? I have a 2004 F250 gas XL with auto locks (fleet power equipment group) and would like to install this for remote start and keyless entry. Is it plug and play, or more involved? Thank you. Philip.
I wanted to install it on my 03 250 6.0 and I had my friend order it (at cost), it came in without instructions! I asked him for the instructions and that dealer doesn't install them so he couldn't get them. He gave me his ID and PW for the Ford Tech's site and from what I can tell, a dealer has to pay to have a tech get trained on the install and I could not find instructions on their web site. I ended up having a friend of my brother in law install it. He installs them for Ford at a different dealer all day long. He did it in less than an hour but he could have done it with his eyes closed, he was good. There is A LOT of wires; it is not plug and play. There is a light for the dash, switch, and a trigger under the hood (to prevent auto start while the hood is open) and an antenna that gives you longer range (He mounted mine above the RV mirror).
I suggest that you have it done by the dealer, or go talk to the tech’s and see if they do work on the side for cash.
Once installed, you’ll love it. For my 6.0 it is nice to warm up the engine while I am walking to the truck from across a parking lot or in the house. I can also let it run and walk away and it will turn itself off after 10 minutes or sooner if I hit the button (after a long haul run) to cool down. The diesel has a delay prior to start to allow for the glow plugs to warm up. Not to mention, if you remember to leave the AC/Heater on, it will get the cab ready for your comfort.
please, please....send me the install guide. I received mine in the mail a couple of days ago and have been searching everywhere trying to find the install guide.
Didn't mean to sound so desparate but I REALLY don't want to have to rely on my dealer to install this thing. I have had very bad experiences locally. Had my front driveline fall off because they didn't tighten the bolts after replacing the water in fuel sensor. (nice) Also, didn't install all of the bolts after removing the turbo to replace a cracked exhaust down pipe. I figure if I let them install this thing the pickup would probably burst into flames.
Thank you for the link. I'll let you know how it works out. I have always installed my own electrical components - stereos, satellite radio, emergency strobes, etc....
I am also getting a new rear view mirror with temperature, compass and the new Homelink transmitter buttons. Do you have access to the ford installation manuals for this accessory?
I sure don't. The problem with that is Homelink (Johnson Controls) doesn't offer aftermarket Homelinks for Fords, it's all installed at the factory, so there are no installation guides for it. But I'm almost certain we could tell you where to find whatever wires you need though.
FedEx is delivering part today so I will see what comes with and go from there. This mirror, which is a Genuine Ford accessory has the homelink built in. So, my assumption ist that it will just need power. I will also need to run the temp sensor wires but I would assume that is pretty straight forward.
Any idea on the nearest power wire to the mirror area. My truck is an XLT so I don't have the overhead console like the Lariat has.
Your going to end up having to pick-up a 12v source under the dash at the fusebox. But running the wires from the rearview mirror up under the headliner and down the A-pillar takes all of a couple of minutes thanks to a little lip on the headliner where it comes in contact with windshield. It allows you to just stuff it in there and it stays.
