I'm new to the forum, but have been enjoying the reading very much. I haven't seen a lot of discussion around the Hypertech programers, so here goes ! I have a 2000 F350, PSD with approx. 50K miles. Bought used in Nov. 2004. It has 3.73 gears and 285x16 tires. Has 4" exhaust & air raid filter box. Speed o'meter is off approx. 3 MPH by my math. Orig. owner had it chipped with approx. 100 HP unit.
Power & torq. is good as I pull a 30' travel trailer. Hiway mileage is disapointing at 14-15mpg running empty. I have removed the chip to test results & performance. On 1st tank since removal now. I'm considering a downloader so I can adjust tire size, have HP gains, & diag. reading. Only option I see is the Hypertech to adjust tire size or gear ratio's. What's the Hypertech feedback here?
I have a friend with an '04 F250 & he has the Diablo downloader. Based on his feedback, I'd buy it tonight if it would adjust tire size. I also like the idea of it's data logger since I'm a techie as well. I know the Diablo has upgrade features but what's the use if Diablo won't add tire size adjustment feature ? From what I've read, their busy on the new year model additions.
Planning to add the Diablo power valve and full guages in near future. I do have xmission gauge now.
i have the same truck and with the hyprotech on stage one i get fifteen highway at 75mph. on stage two or three about twelve. the tire size is nice but the twenty minutes to adjust with the programmer sucks. unless you run fifty five mph you'll never recieve better mileage.
A 2000 and a 2004 are different engines to begin with , but I have the same size gears and tires I Dont see a difference. I`ve heard that hypertech can mess with EGT`S more than the others so beware
I have an 01 with a Hypertech Power programmer III and it's great for power!! It doesn't increase MPG and actually it cut mine by 1 MPG!! Mine will not calibrate for tire size!!
I just barrowed my buddies hypertech 41029 for my 01 f250. It is one of the first ones they made for the 99. Not for sure how much more power there is, but it will smoke the 35" tires now. It is not offered any more. My mileage has gone up 5 miles to the gallon according to the overhead readout. Doing the math is almost 4
