My tools were all stolen so i'm shopping around for replacements. I'm looking at their 932 pcs set with 60" box. Does anyone have any and do you like them?
How do they compare to snap on.
I have one of their 1/2" drive ratchets, plus some assorted sockets, extensions and adapters that were given to me by my grandfather. They're all probably at least 30+ years old and are some of the best tools I have in my toolbox. I have a few Snap-On pieces that came from the same set of tools given to me, and the Cornwell stuff seems to be of equivalent quality to the Snap-On pieces.
I have maybe 6 or 7 pieces of Cornwell tools in my box. Most all the other Standard tools are Snap On and my Metrics are all over the map.
When I was a small kid in the fifties, my Dad ran an independent shop. I remember the Cornwell man being there a number of times and my Dad bought lots of Cornwell tools and still has them. He is now 83.
His ratchets are kind of clunky compared to a Snap On, but in my opinion the only ratchet to have is a Snap On. The end wrenches are pretty good and to me extensions, sockets and such really doesn't matter as long as they're strong and you know where to go to have them replaced if they break.
Unless Cornwell has redesigned their ratchets, I would feel quite good about having Cornwell tools. Snap On are THE best in my opinion, but they have gotten even more expensive in the last few years. I bought my Snap Ons in the early seventies and even though they were expensive then, they were still affordable by mortal man.
I have both and they seem to be of the same quality, but it is harder to find the cornwell man to get other tools and to replace them when I break one. That wold be the only drawback. Erv
