Don't fall for this trick!

I was about to actually try this idea out, but.....

Subject: Locked your keys in the
car...here's the answer

For those of you who have a car that can be unlocked by that remote button
on your key ring: if you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are
home, and you don't have "OnStar," here's your answer to the problem!

If someone has access to the spare remote at your home, call on your cell
phone (or borrow one from someone if the cell phone is locked in the car
too)! Hold your (or anyone's) cell phone about a foot from your car door
and have the other person at your home press the unlock button, holding it
near the phone on their end.

Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you.
Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can
reach someone who has the other "remote" for your car, you can unlock the
doors (or the trunk, or have the "horn" signal go off, or whatever)!

Editor's Note: It works fine! We tried it out and it unlocked our car over a
cell phone! Distance doesn't seem to be a factor.

It's B.S. This won’t work!

Not to hijack a thread, but doesn't any keep a key underneith their vehicle anymore, or is it just me. I have only been locked out of my truck once, and that was just after I bought it and I didn't have a key underneith yet.

I bought one of those keyless entry pads cheap on ebay. Instead of putting it on the door I stuck it inside the box behind the bed liner. I can punch in the code and the truck unlocks.

I also use a hidden key, but it has to be found to be used. Besides, you want it bad enough to come and steal it, I guess you want it more than I do. Especially if you want to come to my house and take it, considering the dogs and 1/4 mile lane...

My Explorer came with an emergency wallet key from ford.

This key has saved me many times. Including one time where i misplaced my keys while i was at school.

One trick that work very well is to bolt on of those carbiner rings from Home Depot to the inside of your frame, and clip a key on it. They have a pinched down smalle ned, and the large end with the hook, just run a bolt through the small end, space it from the frame with a nut, and crank it down. Works great.

If you want, you can come on over and see if you can find it. Due to the location of the key and the fact that the truck is almost always covered in mud, you probably would never find it. Heck, I have had to look a couple time to make sure it was still there and it hasn't moved. The only downside is I would have to have a knife to cut the zip tie and usually I leave that in the truck.

My 2004 F150 needs a 'programmed' key to start the truck and you need two keys to program the third one. So if you loose a key and want another the dealer will have to program the key for you.The keys are about $25 , program about $80. So I had a regular key cut that wont start the truck and put it under the bumber. In the truck there is a spare key hidden to start the truck. Seems to work to for me.
