You are correct. I misspoke. The common frequency range for human speech is 300 to 3600 hertz. Since I'm in the voice business, I kind of focus there.

My old '78 has had the spare key that came with it under the hood stashed since I bought the truck new . Last year I had to dig it out and cut a new one to match as the one I have been using for 26 years was so worn out it would no longer start the truck without problems .

One properly wired kill switch in a location that I'm sure no truck thief would spend the time required to find it prevents it being moved under it's own power and if someone wants it bad enough ,and is brave enough to try and get it out of my yard by any other means they are welcome to it as the appraised replacement value would allow me to fly almost anywhere in North America and drive another '78 or '79 home and end up with change in my account for sure .

Old Ford 4X4's are not real high on the car thiefs list around here and the theft coverage in my package costs $27 per year , cheaper than glass package .

No Dealer Monopoly on the keys either , Home Depot or Wally world can cut one in short order for $2.75 . Should be good for another 26 years now unless the ignition gives up the ghost .

I have a wallet key too, but one day I even managed to mess that up. I was unloading a bunch of small packages from the bed. Finished and closed the bed cover with my keys inside. Luckily I knew where the locking cables were and was able to coat hanger them. Now keep a bed cover key in the cab. My wife called and had locked her keys in the Aero. with the lights on. She wanted me to rescue her, she was only eight hours away. I looked up her key code in my organizer, and gave it to her. She called right back and asked if I could find a locksmith. The only one I could get a hold of was going to spread the door, and wouldn't be resposible for damage. I got curious and looked up the Ford Dealer, wouldn't you know they were across the street! I called them and they had the key waiting for her at no charge.

Nice!

I'll tell a little story about those keyless entry things. My mother in law was using her husband's Cadillac STS to go get groceries a few years ago. She went with my sister in law. They have about $300 worth of groceries from Safeway, get to the Caddy, and press the trunk button. No dice. Press the door unlock button. Same thing. The battery died in the remote. So they both go back into Safeway to use a payphone to call my father in law. His answer was "Why don't you just use the key then?"
