Could it be the cam position sensor?????? I have an '02 F350 PSD with almost 100,000 miles on the odo. While driving up to freeway speed the engine quits for a split second and then resumes normal running. Once it happened from just above idle and I had to restart it. It started right away. but it is disconcerting to say the least. Does anybody have any ideas?
As a precaution i ordered a CPS today from NAPA. Thanks to this forum I was able to find it at the least cost and best availability. Thanks Guys.
I had a similar problem and it turned out to be wire chaff on my 02. If the cps change does not fix it you might look into wire chaff. the service manager and I found my wire chaff by putting ahose on the exhaust and putting the truck in their paint booth with no lights on we opened the hood gave the engine a good rev and believe it or not saw the small spark ad the engine died. I know there must be easier ways to find wire chaff but figured I would share.
Densher, I don't recall where I got the tip on NAPA. It was probably here on FTE but sometimes I follow "The Diesel Stop" forum and I may have found it there. NAPA sells their part number CSS 512 FOR $149.98. I think thats higher than I/H but NAPA had it in stock and I/H nedded a week to get it. I did not want to wait that long as I have a lot of traveling to do in the next couple of weeks. It was still cheaper than Ford though.
