i need a little help please!
will upgrading the tires, springs, overload springs, shocks safely increase the gvwr on my little f100?
thanx for any responses.
perhaps a bit, but you also need to replace your axel. though after getting stiffer rear spings (mine were shot so why not) i did carry 4000 pound pallet of cement int eh back of my f-150. though it was a short distance and i don't suggest it as the axel may be damaged by this amount of weight. perhaps you can find a f-250 thats been smacked up in front and take the rear suspension/axel?
Officially you can never go over the GVWR of the door sticker of the truck. Stiffer springs and better tires will make it handle better with a load, but there are other things to consider like the brakes and the frame. Can you overload your truck and get away with it? Sure. Can you use your truck like an F250 all the time? No.
Its a F-100 is the lightest fullsized P/U Ford built so don't expect to carry much these trucks were mainly designed for daily driving and packing light loads. Beefing up your springs isn't going to give you extra load carrying capacity your axles and frame isn't going to take the extra strain. If you want to haul heavier loads with your truck get a larger truck even a F-250 is too light nowwadays to carry some of the new campers.
