I replaced the EGR valve; I started to clean the old one, but it seemed way too dirty, & a new one was a simple task.

I'll give the Techron a try & get back.

A stronger ignition wouldn't do anything to reduce pinging or knocking. Nothing against MSD, although personal opinion is performance gains if any would be small since OEM ignitions are very strong now, just that it wouldn't answer pinging issues.
