I've seen several posts regarding brands of spark plug wires.
I'm looking a changing mine on my 92 AWD 4.0, 180K.
I had thought (maybe as a victim of marketing hype) that the magnetic supression wires (wire-wound) were functionally better than resistor type wires. At the same time, most of the comments seem to be that standard motorcraft wires are best in terms of reliability.
I had looked at a set of Borg-Warner magnetic suppression wires and a set of Motorcraft wires. The coil end of the BW wires have a simple rubber push on connection, while the Motorcraft wires have a clip to positively lock the wires onto the coils. Is this the reliability difference?
You need the clip on variety and a good set at that. Please, do not buy cheap wires or you will regret it. Stay with either the Motorcraft or Bosch wires. These high energy ignition systems literally eat up cheap wires in no time. The better sets also come with the plug boots pre-lubed with dielectric grease.
