Alternator went bad while visiting the Grand Canyon (South Rim). I made it to a campground, got a ride 100 miles round trip to get the alternator. I changed out the Alternator no problem.
EXCEPT I DROPPED THE BREAKER BAR AND IT HIT THE BACK OF THE RADIATOR. NICE HOLE IN BACK OF THE RADIATOR.
Well that just sucks, its always something. I'd be in panic mode right now thinking of the buzzards picking me clean but thats me but I believe somebody will help you soon..Good luck Jason and not making fun of the situation, I've been there.

Anybody near Williams, AZ?
Jason,
If I were at home I'd only be 2 1/2 hours away, but chit, I'm in Merced, Ca.
All the stuff I've done to this truck I've don't remember ever breaking anything. Now, 1400 miles from home I manage it. We have RV/Tow vehicle assistance through RVNet and a local told me about a diesel mechanic 27 miles away. Right now the plan is to have it towed there and then take a bending over to get it fixed.
Edit: When the alternator went bad the idiot light never came on. But the pyro died and the ABS light came on...Then I noticed my Scan Gauge getting dim. I pulled over and scrolled it to Volts and it read 9.2. Almost didn't make it to this campground. It wouldn't even roll up the windows when it was running.
The tow will be covered. I was hoping somebody lived around here so I could go get the radiator and coolant to keep from paying a mark-up on those items. I don't know. Just scrambling I guess.
Jason, try and PM Helifixer he lives about 50 miles south of where your at and is the the AZ chapter president. I believe he runs a shop for a living, very good guy!
Jason I posted on the AZ June chapter about whats going on with your truck being broke down. hopefully he can help you? I wish you all the best of luck, and if I wasnt in Mississippi I would be on my way in the morning to give you a hand, sorry bud!
