87 bII. okay, I had a brain fart. It has been really cold here, in the lower twenty's with lots of ice. Out of stupidity I set my emergency brake and it froze. Now it will not release. Has anyone else had this problem? What is the best way to get it unstuck? Should I just leave it until it warms up?
Any advice as always is appreciated!
I had the same prob when I replaced the brakes when I got mine. The Parking Brea kwas STUUUCK! So I cut it off the cable, bad idea. Gotta leave it gear when I park.
You should always leave a vehicle in gear when parked unless it is a tractor (trailer). The brakes on the BII are not strong/big enough to prevent the BII from rolling downhill on a steep incline.
Best way to get it unstuck is to just run the vehicle, the exhaust will melt the ice on the cables, especially if you are in snow and it is piled around the sides. Otherwise crawl under the vehicle and pull the cables down and snap them against the body. You need a stick to do this. Or just knock it off with a hammer.
