Hi, I have a 2005 Navigator. When I got it the emergency brake automatically released when I put it in gear. It has stopped doing that. Does anyone know why? Is there a sensor or something. I really liked that feature.
Might have a bad parking brake release solenoid. It's located right there on the brake lever unit at the driver's kick panel. You'll see a harness going to it.
But operationally it should release when you have the ignition ON and your foot depressing the regular brake pedal and the gear shifter passes from PARK into or through the REVERSE position.
