my new f-150
Hello all, I am new here. I have had Fords my entire life, 78 F250, 86 F250,93 F350, 03 F250, and now my 04 F150.......My 4 speed 78 with a 400ci.........awesome, the truck was fast, and could pull a house down. The 350 with a 460......even better. the 86... well, not as good but still good,.... the 2004 250, a slower truck but with good tourqe. which brings me to this F150. I honestly am not in love with it at all. I just will NEVER buy a Chevy, or Dodge. This truck does not have the power i had hoped. I have been reading this forum for a while, and i have heard the Ford has alot of power, its faster than the chevys.....and so on........maybe i got a pig. Dont get me wrong, i know its a truck, and i dont want to race or anything, its just i thought it would be a little quicker is all.It has stalled twice so far, i am not to crazy about the appearence of the 159 either, but it may grow on me ( i hope) . Anyway, just mt two cents. I have NEVER been let down by a Ford before.................just hope it doesnt start now.... Any tips for mods, would be appreciated, and can i fit 285's on this rig or what? I have the smallest tires i have ever seen on a truck before. thanks Tony

I can tell you from experience after owning the truck for a year, 23k miles, and towing a 6k lb triailer, this truck handles great for power. It's not snappy, but you put some weight behind it and you can feel the torque keep building as it pulls. Been all over the West Coast and it handles the trailer way better than my previous 02 F150 with 4:10's even! Check out my pic going through the Redwoods this last spring.

Tony, you're not alone. I just bought an 05 FX4 Screw and I like the truck but am disappointed in the performance. My 01 Z71 with a 5.3 would run circles around this thing and it was bone stock. My 02 HD 2500 with a 6.0 ran a little better than the 5.4 in stock form but not as good as the 5.3. I know that I didn't buy a truck that just didn't run as good because I have driven about 8 different trucks (04's and 05's) and all have been about the same. I don't know if its the air intake, weight or what but something is holding back the horsepower of these trucks. This motor has a 4.17" stoke and should be capable of shredding the tires. I know the air intake, exhaust and tuner will make a big difference but I really thought it would run better from the factory. It's not that big of deal anyways, I have plans for porting the heads, changing cams and super charging....this will up the fun factor by 10x.
