I love my 250 interior seats, dash and leather but when is Ford going to start taking Chevy and Dodge's interior cues and start making more inventive cab space. I have a buddy down the street who just bought a Dodge Ram and it has all this creative storage space under the middle front seat and the rear bench seat. I would never want a Dodge, but I sure wish i had this space......

No way lionscub! I'm with you 100%. The more comfortable a truck is the more I like it, regardless of the fact it's a "work" truck. If you're going to spend long hours in a truck, it's nice to do it in one with all the amenities. Ford does need to put a little more effort into the interior ergonomics of the SD.
Besides, I'm a sucker for those James Bond type gadgets, that alone might get me to buy a new truck.

Needs Interior Improvements
I almost didn't want to post on this one (because I have to agree with Waxy) but I absolutely agree. Not enough cubbies inside for my taste -- with a truck this big, they could have taken advantage of optimizing space a little better. And what's with the little storage compartment under the heater / A/C controls (click here if you don't know what I'm talking about). That space is useless since everything falls out when I tap the gas!

Man, you got that right. I got tired of picking up everything off the floor after I left a stoplight, so I went to a craft store, got a tiny remnant piece of brown suede (to kinda barely match the OEM plastic) and glued that sucker down. Now most things routinely stay in their place when relegated to that cubby.
... now if I could get stuff to stop sliding off the dash underneath the winshield....

Hey guys, it's an easy fix. Get a place mat from an RV store. They are kinda "rubber mesh" and very thin. Just cut the shape to fit the space, and the space in the overhead console too. Nothing slips or falls out any more I bought a black one, and there are other colors too.
The sad part about all this: It really costs the manufacturer very little to take a space in a vehicle and use it creatively. They're using the same amount of plastic, so their material cost is virtually the same. It just takes some creative engineers and the management to allow them to use that creativity. Oh, well....
Hey guys... I'm guessing you can get a rubber "mat" for the pocket below the heater controls from any Ford dealer. I traded the SD for an 01 X and when I got her home I found a little rubber mat in the center console. It fit perfectly into the pocket. I'm guessing thats where it was intended to go. Works great for keeping my two eye glass cases and a spare pen. Also good for holding turnpike tickets under the mat when travelling.
As much as I hate having to say it, my truck has an abundance of "cubbies" and all have rubber mats- even the cup holders! And it is just the XLT equivalent model. Ford definitely needs to "catch-up" on their interior features.
