Welcome to the only family Ford Truck site, on the net. As you can see the members in these forums are very knowledgeable about trucks; they will eagerly help you…with your question. If you have a minute check out the Guidelines, it will help you to navigate through and understand FTE.
Try checking to see if there is a ton of leaves in the vent. It has happened before. Does heat come out when the dash vent is selected, or is there no heat anywhere?
I have chaned my heater core in less than an hour....if that is it.
Enjoy FTE
Welcome to FTE, a really cool place, no pun intended. I'll give two other suggestions that havn't been mentioned, the others are very likely, and the last is a sleeper that many don't know about.
1. Your blower motor is going out, or your impeller is striped. Easy change for the motor, and cheap too. The impeller will have to be replaced if that is the problem.
2. On the passenger side there is a chamber below the glove box. When you select max air, a damper moves to close off outside air. There is also a screen in there that clogs up with leaves, and junk, that entered from the outside vents. You wll have to vacume them out with a small snorkle vacume after opening up the damper. Not hard but you have to be flexible. Hope this warms up your day.
Is this leaf problem a problem for F150s too. Mine's an 80 and the defrost is pathetic, It works okay but I sometimes just roll the windows down a little just to help it out.
