I dont give a crap what the articles say... I have the SilverStar bulbs inplace of my fog lights and they are WONDERFUL!. Much Much Much better visibility. I dont need scientific B.S. to tell me that. I can see it for myself. I would highly recommend SilverStar bulbs for the fog lights... I think they are bulb 9005.... someone please correct me if Im wrong on the bulb#.
I agree khendrix, and your right on the part #.
The next step for you guys is to wire up the fogs to stay on when on high beam like I did. HELLA BRIGHT
I just did the High beam override on my truck... Cant wait for it to get dark outside.
Just pull out the relay, bend pin 1 over the side of the relay and attach a wire lug to it, then run a wire to something metal like the frame and your done. I found a hole in the frame behind the kick panel in the passengers side floor board that I put a Nut and bolt through to hold the ground wire. Took about 20 mins because its so tight and awkward to get to the fuse box down there. Good Luck. ...
P.s. I went to ford to see how much the relay was if I messed it up, $12.01 plus tax.
On my truck you can push the blinker real slow and get your brights and fog light
to come on at the same time and it will stay by itself untell you hit a big bump then you have to do it all over again
this is a great and easy mod. i did this earlier today. took about a half hour. if you pull the whole kick panel off, not just the cover, there is a green ground bolt right there beneath the fuse panel. it already has ground wires running to it. i used that bolt to ground the relay. having the high beams and the fogs on really makes a difference.
I have a 2004 fx4 and tried the mod bent up pin #1 and grounded it to the fender with two other wires that went to groundTried the high beam switch and the fogs went out.
Checked all conections and all were ok . Is this diffrent for the 2004 fx4?
Sounds like the set up I nead for night driving here in CO.
Thanks
Ron
I understand I looked at the relay and found pin #1 it looked like it was bottom left side of relay of the five pins on the relay ?? there are three pins in a row then two pins on left side the bottom left one on mine is numbered one is this the right one? I do have a standard cab 2004 fx4 4x4 thanks for the help.
Put me down in the group that thinks they are CRAP.
First, they are 3x as expensive than regular Halogens,
Second, Their "Blueness" is WAY overstated, as is the visible improvement, and--
Third, they LASTED ONLY ONE YEAR on my rig, both blowing out within a week of each other.
