I have them on my '03 Eddie Bauer Expedition and they work great. They are a very bright white light, so they do not look yellow; they're a very crisp white light that looks like the fancy High Intensity Discharge headlights that are on vehicles like the Escalade and Navigator. They also expand your field of view.
HELLO- they dont make SilverStar headlites for the new ford.
you are right they don't make silverstars for the headlights and they never will, DOT won't let them, but they do make the xtravisions for the headlights and the silverstars for the fogs. i have the silverstars for the fogs and they make a huge difference IMO. i don't hve the xtravisions yet (not available locally) but when available i will have them.
I realize that. I just called Osram Sylvania directly, and they explained why they do not make one (like 04fx4scab stated). It didnt make sense why they couldnt, but most things government regulators do dont make sense to me most of the time .
I got the Silverstars and Xtravision bulbs for Christmas and recently installed them by first replacing one side and comparing. The silverstars are excellent! The Xtravision seem to not make much of a difference. If I had the chance to do over, I would not waste the money on the Xtravision. I'm wondering if there is some way to find a Silverstar bulb from another application that will fit in the '04 and make a harness to adapt from one plug to another. Most likely there is nothing close though. My only hope is to entertain the idea of an HID conversion kit if one becomes available in the future. BUY THE SILVERSTARS FOR SURE!!!!
They may be wonderful if your behind them, but they are far from ideal if your in front of them. Running painfully bright lights is inconsiderate. I would not buy them for that reason.
Wisconsin is considering passing a law that will make non-factory blue headlights illegal. Frankly, I doubt it will change any purchase decisions, but at least it's a statement that needs to be made.
Here is a link to a very informative and well-written post about the Silverstars and blue-tinted bulbs in general.
Thanks for the informative links. I, too, am a bit dissappointed with the f150 low beam output. On a dark 2 lane road that I know well, it seems less bright than my previous 4Runner's low beams, but I think the problem is really a result of the beam pattern. On the Ford the beam seems less "focused". Of course, a dirty headlight lens cover diffuses the pattern even more. Again, thanks for the links.
