Feel both hoses at the heater core. Both should feel hot unless the core is partially plugged or there is some other blockage in the lines at the heater core assuming the coolant level is correct. A faulty thermostat sticking open will still allow the coolant to heat up enough to notice if it is flowing through the heater properly when you check it out. If the coolant is flowing properly and then you still aren't getting enough heat then you need to check and make sure the blend door is working proerly and if it is than you probably should replace the thermostat.

I agree with jt to check your hoses first. Are there any antifreeze or unusual smells in the cab?

Its air in the system, happens to mine everytime I do some coolant repair. The rad looks full but thats because the heater and lines are higher than the engine and rad. Water sound is coolant being pumped back into the heater and lines when running, drains off when not running.

I run the engine with rad cap off untill I see it circulating and than rev engine up a bit and coolant will drop, fill it up and install cap. Than make sure there is coolant in the overflow to get sucked in when it cools. After a couple days the over flow will be empty or all most so pour some more coolant in it.

water sound should be gone.
