460 idle and timing

460 idle and timing
what should the idle be at full operating temperture for an 89 460 fi auto. also, when checking the timing should i check it directly above the damper and marker or at angle to the side. it is off a couple degrees depending where i am looking.

Kind of reminds me of going for rides with my girlfreind. I have a bad habit of driving until I'm totally out of fuel. From where I sit, directly in front of the fuel guage, there is still a quarter tank left. From where she's sitting, across the cab looking from an angle, it appears to be below "E"! Knowing me, she is always tripping that were going to run out any minute!

The lite should be aimed at the pointer flat. Otherwise not from directly overhead. You need to aim the light down from next to the vavle cover. Idle speed should be abut 600 rpms in gear if it's an auto and neutral if standard.
