when i start my truck cold it only idles fast (1200rpm) for about 5 seconds than down to 750, normally i expect that it should idle fast for at least 30 to 60 seconds, allowing the engine to warm up some. this makes my truck "cold blooded" even stalling some times. i have no codes(only "11") or check engine light. is there anyway of controlling this? also what acts as the "choke" on fuel injection? thanks in advance. steve
The water temp sensor in the intake( not the single wire gauge sending unit, the 2 wire sending unit in a water jacket) tells the computer if the engine is cold or warm. It could be faulty.
There is also a air charge temp sensor in the intake track somewhere, probably in and intake port on the manifold, that senses the air temp being drawn into the engine.
Check for vacuum leaks, if the truck has a mass-air sensor, clean it. I would also check the IAC (Idle Air Control) motor. It could be sluggish. You can try cleaning the inside( the two holes where the plunger is ). Sometimes you can get lucky, but Usually, replacing it is better.
If this doesn't fix it, then I would try replacing the water temp sensor.

jimmy, maybe the temp sending unit is faulty, sending a "warm" signal all the time.makes sense.i'll check these items tommorow. thanks for your input steve
