Emissions test on my PSD...
...Much to my surprise (thought my truck was too old) to buy new plates in Ohio for my 95' Powerstroke I had to have an emissions test. They ran the truck on the dyno on both tailpipes (mine y at the tailpipe). It passed, though my converter is hollow! The results were at 0.00 Opacity, limit 20.00 Opacity.
Can anyone tell me what Opacity is?

Opacity is the percentage of light that is blocked by the exhaust stream. In Arizona, the metro areas also use this test for diesels. 20% is the limit here, too.

similar to los angeles on a clear day?(pollution)??????

The test is done by a light and light sensor device that is inserted into the exhaust pipe. If there is no smoke the reading will be 0.0. The blacker the smoke, the greater percentage of the light is blocked from the sensor. The limit is 20.0% of the light being blocked by the smoke. Anything over 20% will fail the test. According to the news reports here, there are very few failures because the rollers that they use to run the truck don't load the engine enough to produce black smoke unless there is a real bad fuel system problem.
